Minnie Skerrett school of dance was established in 1960 and is one of the oldest established dance schools in Staffordshire. Minnie Skerrett was an eminent Ballet and Tap teacher held in very high regard in the dance world. The purpose built dance school has been running Ballet and Tap classes in Newcastle under Lyme for over 50 years. During this time the school has seen hundreds of children taught by its teachers many of which have gone on to pursue careers in dance, theatre or teaching dance themselves.
Our Ballet, Tap, Cheerleading, Freestyle and Hip-Hop Street classes are taught by fully qualified and very experienced teachers, Paula Brown and Mandy Llwenlyn who were themselves taught by Minnie Skerrett. Also with experienced staff you can ensure your child will be taught in a fun, friendly and safe environment resulting in happy and enthusiastic pupils and staff.

Our aim at the school is for pupils to get pleasure and enjoyment whilst learning about the world of Dance.Alongside weekly classes pupils have the opportunity to take British Ballet Organisation and International Dance Teachers Association examinations which are held yearly, perform in our bi-annual show in a professional theatre, workshops and theatre trips.
We accept pupils from the age of two and a half and recommend at this stage they start with 'Minnie Movers' and then progress onto other styles of Dance from there. 'Minnie Movers' gives them poise, confidence and enables them to work together in small groups to boost their co-ordination and musicality. They learn lots of little ballet exercises and stories/themes that they can understand and relate too.
